Day 56 Ready to Break Fast!

Chrisitne here…Today we are thinking a lot about how to break the fast. I have been very excited about eating for a good while now. But today I started reading about breaking an extended fast and I was disappointed to read that it takes quite a while to come off a juice fast. It seems you have to spend about five days just “mono-eating”, eating high-water-content fruits and veggies, one at a time. Sounds a little boring. We always intended to continue juicing after the fast was over, but I think we assumed we could be eating “meals” a lot sooner than 5 days after breaking the fast. Somehow I neglected to research this part before. Maybe it’s good that I did!

  • Hi Ladies. I believe the book that Christian is referring to, as I just read exactly the same things she mentioned in the blog is Juice Fasting & Detoxification bu Steve Meyerowitz. I also think it’s important to let folks know that the book says that if you fast beyond the time your body needs you to, you run the risk of starting to burn muscle and organs.

I set my sights on 60 days as well, but if my body tells me it’s time to come off, I will do so. I am at day 23 now.

    I appreciate your efforts.

    • Yes Beth, that’s the book! Thank you for filling that in for me. I agree, it’s definitely not good to go beyond the point that your body feels comfortable. Tomorrow’s the last day and we are looking forward to breaking the fast and feeding our bodies with delicious nutrient dense foods. We have also been exercising during the fast so I’m hoping that is contributing to some maintaining of muscle. Thanks for your comment and please keep us posted on your progress. – Christine

  • Copied and pasted from youtube.

Comment from doing this a couple of times. I have done the Lemon detox 2x times, 30 days each (wasn’t supposed to go past 15 days for this one), juice fast now for longer (done a 50day , currently on 27 of another) . I didn’t have any problem coming off but I was really careful for 3-4 days just to make sure I didn’t have some strange reaction (just mixing a liquid drink with fruits for the 3-4) and making sure wasn’t reacting out of either end of the body.

I think you need to just make sure you stay away from the fats (meat, chips, processed – thats where you can have problems). your body is very resilient but it wont take long to remember the chocolate!. I could transition from juice to the same foods unjuiced easy including steamed veges. Do what feels right..lov the vids.

    • Thanks for your comment Jason. We will definitely being staying away from those “foods”. Nothing that mother nature did not create will be going in our mouths. Including GMO foods! Just went to the farmers’ market this morning for the foods we will be juicing and eating this week. All the food there feels so alive! Can’t wait to start eating it! Cheers on your accomplishment and please keep us posted! – Christine
