Day 58 Juicing doesn’t end on day 60

Christine here…It’s the weekend and a time to rest and get ready for the week to come. I’m so excited that tomorrow’s farmers’ market trip will be the first of buying fruits and veggies for eating as well as juicing. We may not get it perfectly right as far as amounts, it will be another learning process. Getting close to our goal means we’re getting ready for another “shift”. It’s a psychological as well as a physical shift, beginning the process of getting our bodies, especially our digestive systems, slowly back up and running, without compromising all of the good results we’ve gotten from this extended period of juice fasting. I’m ready for the shift and excited for what’s to come.

Day 57 Feeling excited and appreciative

Chrisitne here…I’m so proud of us right now, wow, today is day 57…3 more days to go to complete a 60 day juice fast! I really want to say to everyone out there who is thinking about doing this, you CAN do it! It’s not easy, it feels like a long time, you go through a lot of emotional ups and downs, but in the end it is so worth it. We originally came up with the name “2ontheshift” because we are literally in the process of a major shift in our lives. If you are ready to live a new life, to be the person you always knew you could be, or even if you didn’t know it but you hoped, I encourage you to get on board and do a juice fast. It’s life changing! You will never regret it. A juice fast can do for you what years of dieting, exercise and therapy can not. You literally reboot your body, clean it out and wake up to a new you and a new life. I feel so grateful that I am right here, right now.

Day 56 Ready to Break Fast!

Chrisitne here…Today we are thinking a lot about how to break the fast. I have been very excited about eating for a good while now. But today I started reading about breaking an extended fast and I was disappointed to read that it takes quite a while to come off a juice fast. It seems you have to spend about five days just “mono-eating”, eating high-water-content fruits and veggies, one at a time. Sounds a little boring. We always intended to continue juicing after the fast was over, but I think we assumed we could be eating “meals” a lot sooner than 5 days after breaking the fast. Somehow I neglected to research this part before. Maybe it’s good that I did!

Day 55 Five Days to Go!

Mary here… Whew! We are soooo close to the end! I’m still battling this wicked dry cough. I don’t know what it’s from. Now that I know more about the harm from chemtrails, I’m wondering. When I lived in New York, I never had bronchial problems. I began to develop them after being in LA for 3 years. We have been living here now for 11 years, and I’ve noticed it getting worse. If I do get sick, which has been so rare, I wind up with a bad cough that lingers on for what seems like forever. I’m going to try and focus instead on having healthy lungs. I know if I change my beliefs around this, to ones that are more positive, I WILL have clear lungs. It’s all about intention-setting. It really does work.

Christine and I are so excited to begin our healthy ‘recipe stage’ of eating healthy next week after we complete our 60-Day Juice Fast!

Day 53 One week to go!

Christine here…Strange day today. All of a sudden I felt trapped in the juicing. We messed up a juice and tossed it out, I was really hungry, had a bad taste in my mouth and didn’t know what to do next! This is the only day in the past 53 that I felt like I really wanted to bail! But after all I’ve been through and with how close we are, there’s no way I’m gonna cave now…

Day 52 Muscle loss while juice fasting?

Christine here…Great day today. Got up early to go to the farmers’ market as usual on a Sunday and realized this was the last time we would be shopping for a week’s supply of juicing produce. Next week we will have one day of juicing left and then have to think about how much to buy for juicing and eating! I’m really excited…it’s so close and I’m so ready.

Mary here.. It seems like these days keep going by faster and faster. And it’s been a challenge trying to get video blogs in daily. But we really care about others out there who are wanting to try this juice fast or are in the thick of it and need support or help.

Day 51 Posting a very important film…

Mary here… Christine and I went down to Hollywood today to the screening of an important film, one we will be spreading the word about. It’s called What in the Wold are they Spraying? It’s about chemtrails and the harm that they are doing to our health. This is pretty serious folks. There is surmounting evidence that the government has been spraying aluminum, barium and strontium from jets in the skies. Their reasoning? To control weather in order to tackle global warming. It’s called geoengineering. But what has been happening is that our soil and water are now contaminated with the aluminum, barium and strontium, which then affects plants, animals and humans. This film is a good one. One of the producers was in the theater for a Q&A  and stressed that we need to spread this information so that people can be informed about what’s really going on. I am not trying to scare anyone, but I think we have a right to know the truth, and make choices about our health and well being. We are being lied to, more than we realize. My hope is that through the Internet, we can come together and create positive change, by saying no to certain activities, and yes to all the solutions that exist that are being kept from us. Here’s the film…

Day 50 Only 10 days left…the countdown begins!!!

Christine here…Today is day 50 of our 60 day juice fast and we are counting down the final 10 days! This has been the most difficult and the most amazing experience of my life. I am so proud of myself and I really believe that I’ve been able to make it this far because Mary and I are doing it together, plus continually seeing those small changes to my body and feeling just fantastic every day. I really don’t want to change what we’re doing too dramatically because I love what’s happening to my body, and my spirit. This has just confirmed for me that we definitely don’t need to be eating as much food as we think and that we really can get all the nutrition we need from plants. Physically I know I could keep going with just juicing, but mentally I couldn’t do it because I want to eat. I’m looking forward to it with relish, but my tastes have changed and I’m really craving raw veggies…and beans! I wonder what I will eat first? Hmmm…

Mary here… Yes, this is so exciting. I wasn’t sure if I could make it through to this point, let alone Day 60. But it looks like I’m going to make it just fine. The following video is longer than usual for us, but we had lots to chat about and we are happy to have you all in our home with us. That’s how it feels when we are blogging..like you all are right there with us, hangin’ out…pretty cool……

Day 49…So close!

Mary here… Woke up feeling terrific today. I’m finding that once I drink a juice, I’m OK regarding feeling hungry or having cravings. Yesterday, I was able to have a real heart to heart with Christine about my concerns over what we will be eating when we finish on day 60. I know we have to very slowly add back into our diet things like fiber, and other foods. But it seems to me that Christine is more excited about eating just fruits and veggies than I am. I am so tired of fruit, and in fact was never much of a fruit eater when I was growing up. I could care less about sweets, natural or not. I’ve been trying to figure out why I have been having such a continuous craving for red meat while on this juice fast. When we were leading up to the fast, I was a total vegetarian, almost vegan, and had NO cravings for red meat at all. Why now? Well, Christine figured it out, as she always does! It’s the fat that I’m missing in my diet. When I think of the things I’d really like to eat, it’s red meat, fish, shell fish, spinach sauteed in garlic and olive oil, salad with olive oil and balsamic vinegar..the list goes on and on..but every single craving contains fat. I know some of you will say, but that’s ok bcause it’s the healthy fat!  Unfortunately, according to the major docs in alternative health, all fat is a major no no. So I will have to be extremely careful as I add that back into my diet. This may be why some vegans have complained about gaining weight while eating vegan. It’s the oils!

Christine here…Mary’s right, I am excited about eating after we finish the fast. I’m looking forward to, not only the fruits and veggies, but the beans, nuts and seeds and grains as well. I am going to try to follow Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s “Eat to Live” plan. He suggests eating as much raw veggies and fruits as possible, especially having a big salad for lunch and dinner. He says that raw veggies have a negative calorie effect so the more of them you eat the more weight you can lose. I really want to keep eating clean after the fast because I know I won’t be finished losing weight. I broke into the 130s today at 139.5. This is the first time in many years that I have been under 140. It all feels so great and I have no fear at all about falling back into bad habits. I feel I’ve really changed and I’ve learned so much while on this fast. Mary’s right, the oils are considered a processed food and should not be eaten. Other fats that are good come from plants like avocado, walnuts, olives and coconuts, but you should eat the plants and not the oils and keep your fat intake to a minimum. Dr. Dean Ornish says it should be below 20 grams a day. Olive oil has 14 grams of fat in one tablespoon! It would be easy to eat twice that amount on one salad! My goal now is to find lots of good vegan recipes that don’t require using oil. I’ll start with Dr. Fuhrman’s book and Dr. Ornish’s book, “The Spectrum”.
